Panasonic PT-LB20U LCD Projector Repair, Blotchy Color after New Lamp

This Panasonic PT-LB20U LCD projector had a new lamp installed. At that point the customer noticed a lot of blotchy colors randomly across the screen. Of course they did not notice it before hand because the old lamp was too dim. Rather than insist on a new lamp(as most people do), they realized the lamp only makes white light and the color issues had to be elsewhere. That led them to sending it in for me to look at. After some cleaning of the optics and other dust removal , I was able to get the picture back to normal. The lamp LED was also lit when it came in. That was due to the lamp timer not being reset. Dust is easily the largest cause of failures that I see. It will get everywhere. I found that they tried to use a piece of red material as a filter but it wasn't allowing anywhere near enough airflow. I replaced it with simple open cell foam, cut to size. Now this projector is back on its way to the customer so they can put it back into service. Thanks for watching and Keep your projectors clean.
