Things you can make from an old DVD drive #1 - Crawlerbot Inchworm

I had to replace the DVD drive in my old PC today and that gave me the idea for another series of projects. I will see how many projects I can generate from the components in the old DVD drive. This is the first project and I make one of my old favourites, a crawler bot or inchworm which uses the tray mechanism to reach forward and pull itself along

Internal DVD drive
2 CDs
1 VHS Cassette spool
2 bottle tops
1 Barbecue skewer
1 toggle switch - SPDT - Single Pole Double Throw (non locking)
Drinking straw or plastic tube to extend toggle switch lever
1 Plastic pop bottle
2 9v batteries
Wire (mine came from old telephone cable)
Solder
Hot Glue

Tools

Screwdrivers
