Porous media combustion (PMC) has interesting advantages compared with free flame combustion due to higher burning rates, increased power dynamic range, extension of the lean flammability limits, and low emissions of pollutants.

In this video a methane/air mixture is burned inside a porous SiC structure from EngiCer SA. The air/gas mixture is formed through a venturi with no fan.
