I'm sure a lot of you techies out there have several old optical drives laying around and not really anything to do with them. Here's a cool project that will let you breathe new life into those old disk drives by turning them into a CNC drawbot! You can also use the same platform to make a CNC drill, a laser cutter, or even a 3D printer! In part one of this two part series, we will go over the hardware and how to assemble it and get it ready for connecting it to the computer and running the software.
